Podcast: Beyond church/state talking points

Editor’s note: Beyond Talking Points: An American Middle Podcast is a limited, 9-part series leading up to the 2024 presidential election brings the listener into the briefing room of presidential campaigns.
Before there are talking points or stump speeches, candidates receive policy briefings from a variety of experts around the country. This knowledge is synthesized with the candidate’s own point of view, and then goes into the campaign machine polling and strategy and communications. Most people only see the result at the end, in a Tweet or a talking point on the debate stage.
But voters deserve the unfiltered policy assessments that candidates themselves receive behind closed doors. This podcast covers the top policy issues on voters minds’ this election cycle, analyzing what the campaigns are promising and what America really needs.
